2019 Annual Report

During the 2019 calendar year, King George Sheriff’s Office participated in a number of worthwhile events, which includes the Special Olympics Torch Run, the Special Olympics Polar Plunge, Meet in the Middle, Fall Festival, National Night Out, Bright Beginnings, Bridge the Gap Summer program, Adopt a Highway roadside cleanup, Hidden in Plain Sight program and Shop with a Sheriff.  We were very fortunate to host Sheriff Dempsey’s retirement Luncheon.

King George Sheriff’s Office had their 5th accreditation this year and received a score of 100%. This was accomplished by the hard work and dedication of the entire Sheriff’s Office staff.

King George Animal Control added a new employee, Jason Church to their staff.  They continue to host a Spring and Fall Rabies Clinic in addition to sponsoring the Co-op Program through King George High School.

The King George Sheriff’s Office also hosted a summer intern, Michael Habgood.  He successfully completed 120 hours of internship.  Lt. Richards continues to host the TRIAD program for seniors on the second Tuesday of the month on topics such as: various scams and AARP Smart Driver course.

The Empowerhouse organization continues to be a vital asset to the Sheriff’s Office and citizens of King George offering Domestic Violence services.

The King George Sheriff’s Office had some promotions in 2019 that includes the following:

            Detective Drew Massey to Sergeant- Criminal Investigation Division
            Deputy Robert Eves to Sergeant-Patrol Division
            Deputy Zachary Peltola to Criminal Investigation Division (temporary assignment)
            Communications Officer Breanna Lewis to Communications Training Coordinator

The King George Sheriff’s Office continued to grow in 2019 with the following additional staff:

            Dep. Kelli Houlihan – Patrol Division
            Dep. Walter Coates – Courts
            Dep. Rachel Clark – Courts
            

The King George Sheriff’s Office also celebrated in the retirement of Lt. Monty Clift from CID in January 2019 with 31 years of service, Deputy Jeff Stonehill from Patrol in February 2019 with 14 years of service and Sheriff Steve Dempsey in December 2019 with 39 years of service.  We also retired K9 Kilo this year.
